A Few Options if You are Not Ready to Apply to Med School

You took the MCAT and didn’t do ask as well as you liked. Or you applied to medical school but didn’t get in. Here are some answers to some of your questions and some opportunities you can take advantage of.

Are my MCAT scores high enough our should I take it again?

MCAT scores are an important part of your application. Getting 7’s across the board is a good indication that you may need to take MCAT again. Scores from 7-9 across the board may exclude you from some medical schools but depending on your overall application you might be able to get some interviews. Speak to your contact at the medical school office of diversity that you contacted (a previous tip) to help you decide if you should take the MCAT again. For tips on how to contact an office of divesity check out Get Plugged In.

If you decide to take the MCAT again check out the Mastering the MCAT link.

What options do I have?

There are many things you can do in the next year to improve your application. Check out the Untapped Goldmine for more ideas.

If you need to improve your grades or haven’t taken your required science courses you can take advantage of a Post Baccalaureate program. Check out Program Search in the Untapped Goldmine for some ideas.
